Registration open for Semi-Automated Workflows for Facilitating Multimodal Language Processing Workshop at MMSYM 2026
Registration is now open for SWiFT-MLP: Semi-Automated Workflows for Facilitating Multimodal Language Processing, a hands-on workshop to be held at MMSYM 2026 in Leuven, Belgium, on 8 September 2026. The workshop will be co-located with the Symposium Series on Multimodal Communication (9–11 September 2026).
SWiFT-MLP is designed for researchers and students working with audio and video data who are interested in practical, reproducible workflows for analysing multimodal communication. The workshop focuses on semi-automated pipelines for multimodal language processing, including body keypoint extraction with MediaPipe, gesture segmentation, speech transcription with WhisperX, exporting annotations to tools such as Praat and ELAN, and comparing speech and gesture signals for multimodal and kinematic analysis.
The programme will be especially relevant to researchers in multimodal communication, linguistics, NLP, computer vision, and cognitive science who need transparent and reusable methods for studying embodied interaction.
Applications are open until 30 April 2026. A maximum of 20 participants will be accepted. The registration fee is 100 euros, which includes training, coffee breaks, lunch, and an evening social event. Official registration and payment will take place after selection, and confirmation emails will be sent by 15 May 2026.
